ok as you can see in my album my truck has quite a bit of nastiness under the hood - can anyone recomend a method of cleaning that area out that won't damage the engine and components?
I believe you spray it onto the engine (it's a foam, if I recall), let it set for a while so it can break down the dirt, grease and other junk, then wash it off the engine with a garden hose or pressure washer. I don't think you'll have to worry about getting water into anything if you make sure you cover the distributor and carburetor and make sure your spark plugs, oil breather cap and PCV valves are tight.
Yours isn't near as bad as my 1996 Jeep Cherokee's engine compartment though...mine has a thick layer of gunk on just about everything. Everything's dark grey or black. Add in a leaky valve cover seal, and it's one really big mess. lol.
i'll be sure to give it a try once i replace the pvc hookups as atm the grommet(?) is rather worn but unfortunatly i couldn't afford to replace it at the same time that i replaced the other one lol
I know exactly how that goes. Just get stuff as you can, that's how I do it.
You could also run the pressure washer (if you use one) on a lower setting, so you don't have like 2,000psi trying to blast a hole through everything. lol
Hey, btw. Thats a pretty straight looking truck there. Alittle surface rust but it looks like its in pretty fine shape. Good luck, i hope it treats you well.
