I bought my 99 F-250 about 2 months ago right after i got back from Iraq. After closer inspection prior to going and getting a load of rock i noticed that the brand new 265/75-16's that are on there are the wrong ply rating for the truck. I used to work for a tire shop called Les Schwab Tires back on the west coast prior to me joining the Air Force so i have a pretty good knowledge about tires but i have never seen what i found on the tires after looking for the ply rating. The only thing i found was a tag that said Stanard Ply Rating, so i called one of my friends back in WA and ask him and he said "yea those tires are 4 ply" So now i have to get new tires for my truck which isnt to bad cause i want to run 285's in stead of 265's but hopefully i can sell my old tires to help cover the cost of the 285's the bad thing is that the tires on it now only have about 2k miles on them LOL. So yehhhhh for stupid people!
Thats a bummer, alot of people just buy any tires to throw on there to sell not taking in account the load ratings. Glad you caught it now then later in a blowout or worse. Good thing is there is less miles on them so you won't be out much, they should sell pretty quick though, good luck..
yea i am going to get different wheels also cause right now i have the ugly alloy wheels from 1999 and i going to get the newer once that come on the 2001 and up trucks.

Its a shame you live so far, I was thinking of going bigger on the rims and tires and I have the stock slotted aluminum's with 285's on mine, they have about 65% or more tread left, o well.

Yes sir I did, Sanderson's shackles. I was fortunate that a member here hooked me up with them(Zack7.3) when he decided to get a springpack, been working well so far.
I've got a nice set of Michelins, 285's at that, and guess what, load range "D". They were on the truck when I bought it. I'm going back to 265's as I'm getting a wearing strip about 1" from the edge which I think means that the tires are too wide for the rims. That won't happen till a few other important things get done.

I'm running 285/75 Michelin LTX load range D on stock 16" rims. The wear couldn't be anymore even. It may not be the rims that are causing your wear pattern.
There was a thread awhile ago about some Sanderson Shackles found on ebay for $45...search for the thread, or search on ebay for 'em...not a bad price for them...
I know what ya mean. After I picked my truck up from the dealer, we noticed two of the tires were P265's instead of LT's. Dunno how my dad, brothers, and myself missed that but it sucked. They were both on the passenger side, so every time I took a hard left the truck REALLY leaned....
I'll bet the PO put those tires on there just to say it had virgin rubber in the add so it would attract buyers...Like Mike said lucky you caught that it could of been all over but the cryin if some then went bad?!?!?!
