Question for the techs

I am trying to decide whether to purchase an extended warranty on my truck or have one of our local Ford diesel techs moonlight my EGR delete and ARP studs and head gaskets. I would much rather pay the tech directly than to the dealership. Just wanted to bounce that off of some of the techs on this forum for their input.

you really need to way the added 2 years of warranty vs the amount of milage you drive. also you need to look closly at what is and is not a covered part.

Just checked out the extended warranties. Unless you get the premium ones they cover all the parts that don't fail. Like cheezit said if you don't put alot of miles on it they are only worth piece of mind. If you do get one go through Ford they seemed to be the highest rated for your your ford - go figure.

ford warranty is the best product out there. no question on that one and no dealer will ever fight with them or you over who is paying how much per a repair.

Well I have until 01/06/11 to decide but I'm leaning towards paying a diesel tech 100% commission rather than the dealership.

I agree...the Ford ESP plan is by far the best that will give you coverage to 200k miles
