Why would my AIC report different RPM than my AE? I tested today and the gauge and AIC were dead on, my ear reported a steady idle, but the AE was reporting anywhere from 20 - 40 rpm variations. From what I could hear it may have been 4 - 10 RPM's max. Also had a CC on #8 hovering around 3.9!
Just had the recall on the CPS, think I've got a ringer there? Maybe try the "shims?" Or, is this fluctuation normal for everyone.
My rpm's move around, but I never have paid attention to how much. I just watch the numbers to get a rough idea. I'll have to pay more attention next time I hook up AE.
Same for me as well.
I suppose the AE uses the CPS to determine RPM anyway, so that may be the reason for the variations. I am not surprised to see the RPM fluctuate to be honest, the V8 firing order is nearly impossible to set up so it's balanced.
Pay no attention to #8 CC. Ignore it, it's the devil. It drove me nuts and taunted me, and taunted me until my curiosity took over and compelled me to swap #6 and #8 just to see. Nothing changed. Except now my truck knows I am a sucker and takes pleasure knowing it got the best of me.
Next time I hear a weird noise, I am turning up the radio.
