Thats thinking there Redford!! Should work good,,,x2 on a COP missing,,shorting out when wet,,,some of us remember the carbon tracks (we called them Pecker tracks) inside Distributor caps when they get bad,,,I beleive the same thing can happen with a cop or boot !
8 new coil packs
8 new plugs properly gapped (this makes it 16 plugs in the last month or two)
no CEL or codes
STILL MISFIRES BELOW 1500 RPM LIKE CRAZY. So anyone got any ideas what else could be goin on? All my plugs where snow white once again, could this be a vacuum leak?
All misfires occur while the truck is running in open loop, when its in closed loop I have no misfires at all. I dont know if this is because once the engine is warm it switches to open loop or if it's tune related. Hope someone can help.
I had the same problem with mine it ended up being an o2 sensor. I wasn't able to tell untill i got a code to set many months later. But i swear it felt like a ignition miss / issue. BTW mine always acted up if it was damp or wet outside

Well I guess I'll replace those, that fits the bill of mine. Was it fine when it was cold?
Yeah it worked great when started in the cold ( it's a plow truck) only when the engine switched over the o2 sensor loop did it act up and even then it was only sometimes (usually wet or damp days)
Well it is the o2 sensors, I just unhooked both of them and she runs like a champ... no misfiring, tons more power, and I can actually cruise in overdrive.
Thanks for the lead! If it runs this much better in speed density I can't imagine how awesome she'll run with new O2 sensors!
And on the positive, she'll have new COP's as well! Should be good for another 100K.
Lets hope so! Today I got to thinkin, when I signed up with FTE all the rage was about some cam phaser or somehting like that... disabling my O2 sensors throws it into speed density, thus any of my snesors could theoretically be failing. Does my truck have thes cam phasers or whatever they are... havent seen them mentioned ina while so maybe it was a fad scapegoat?
speaking of O2 sensors i ran a scan tool on my 05 f250 with the 5.4 3v and a o2 sensor code came up but it said it was out of range. is the easyiest way to determine witch one is out by unpluging each of them one at a time?
I also have two cam sensor codes reading but i changed both cam sensors not even a month ago and the code still comes up any one got any advice or help??

Nope. Which code did it set? The code will tell you which O2 sensor is reading out of range.

This is a bit off topic, you should start a thread of your own for this one. My best guess is something is wrong with the cam phasers.
