I went out and bought one of these today from my rv dealer. He sells me the adapter plug for it to fit my truck. He tells me its easy and he would do it but would have to charge me 50 bucks. He said its under the cover under the steering wheel. Well I looked and I don't see where to plug it. Some help would be very appreciated thanks
The factory wireing you need to find right where the rv dealer said it was, its kind of low to the floor IIRC, and nearer to the trans hump, and should be labeled, and provided your dealer gave you the correct harness it should just plug into the factory plug under the dash-BTW: Which controller did you buy?? I like the old-fashioned Voyager model-it combines the features of the antique units and modern electric units, but lots of folks on here use the Prodigy or P3 units. let us know if you are able to find the wireing in your truck.
I've got the tekonsha primus, I did see what looked like it maybe a plug but it had 4 wires coming from it that were cut off. Is that what I am lookin for?
I think I got it, well it come on anyway. I had to remove the fuse panel cover under the steering wheel. I was told I needed to remove just the black cover under that and I could not see it that way. Now I just need to figure out how to cut it off. it stays lit up all the time.
It will have power all the time, it only has to power up the indicator light when not in use, less than 1 amp as IIRC. Mine stays on all the time and it has not been a problem. Your instructions should say.
The unit that I have has two ***** for adjusting, one is for setting the amount of braking power on the trailer the other gets adjusted after the unit is mounted and is for "leveling" the unit. If you don't have your instructions I'll type them up here for you.
I bought a Tekonsha for my '02 F350 and they send me a plug with loose wire that I have to cut in to the existing wiring to install. So I am up under there and I see the "plug". It has the wire I need to cut in to. Why the H*** didn't Tekonsha send me the right plug in unit? Seems a little stupid. I would have paid a little extra had they asked. I went down and bought one that plugs in and threw the one Tekonsha sent me away. Like the Prodigy, but still a little pissed they asked for my truck make and model and send me the cheaper wiring set up.
Mine is hooked up now, thanks for the replies. You guys are prompt and reliable.my wife always wonders why I am on here all the time.I'm getting ready to post my next thread about this mysterious oil leak I have that is dripping from the engine transmission area
