I'm trying to replace a water pump on my 1974 F100 that has a 86 Mustang 5.0 302 engine in it. It appears to be an aftermarket water pump. I've compared it to an 86 Mustang, 74 F100, and 86 F150 waterpump and I can't find a match for it. The guys at Advance have compared it to mutliple 86-era Ford water pumps and can't find a match. I've ran in to a dead end tracing the history of the truck to see where the engine swap was done. The only identifcation on the water pump is a stamp that reads: 603SCTPH... The 86 Mustang pump at Advance almost worked but the pulley is too far out to line up with the belt and the pulley is also too large to clear the harmonic balancer. Does anybody have any suggestions on how I can locate a replacement?
I think I discovered the issue. It looks like they used an 86 Mustang water pump and pressed the original 74 F100 flange & pulley on to it so they could go back with the original fan assembly. Through all the parts stored for a loop! I bought the new water pump today, had the new flange removed, had my old one pressed on to it & everything is lining up - almost. The water pump pulley is now rubbing the harmonic balancer pulley but I'll try to find a workaround that. Nothing like doing repairs after an 'engineer!'
Grrrrr!!!! Still not working. The "stem" that juts out from the water pump that the pulley rests on is just a little bit lower on the replacement water pump and forces the water pump pulley to hit the crank shaft pulley. I have no idea what vehicle my old water pump came off of but I need an exact match to get everything to fit back. I did find some more numbers stamped on the end of the shaft. They read: k024 786 zf...Can ANYBODY help me find this part??? I'm $400 deep with the mechanic and he can;t find it, the parts stores can't find it. and I can't find it...
