Transmission question
Hi my names Austin and im new here. I have been rebuilding my 1983 ford f-150 stepside. It is almost done. I took it to have a tranny filter change, and flush, because it would not shift out of second gear. When they went to change the filter they found pieces of the clutch and friction plates in the bottom of the transmission pan. What does this mean for the transmission? Do i need to have the whole thing rebuilt, or is it that i simply need to replace the clutch and friction plates? Im hoping it is just something simple, but afraid i will have to rebuild it and im running out of money, and patience. any help would be greatly appreciated.

As long as the trans works, don't worry about it. When it quits, then it's time for a full rebuild. Changing the clutches/friction plates requires complete trans disassembly.
This a C6 or AOD? If it's a C6, it might go another 1/2 million miles........
