I have a 1998 mercury tracer, and I was wondering where I locate and how I change the fuel filter. Its practicaly the same as a ford escort of the same year. This has the 2.o liter single over head cam. I thought it would be on the fuel line between the engine, and fuel tank it self. Well, I got in the grease pit, and could not find the fuel filter. also I heard if its a certain type of fuel line connection to the filter then I need a special wrench? Just give me help if you can. Thanks
thanks, I already found it just yesturday. Looks I am going to have to get at it from the bottom though. Theres brake likes running straight over top of it and very limited space, so it is imposible to get at it from the top do to limited space. Thanks though. I am going to use my grease pit and maybe get at it from the bottom.
Good luck. Not sure why they would bury a serviceable item like that.
No kiding. I think that someone redid the brake lines and blocked off the fuel filter from above. Apresiate the help. I've never worked on the car with the fuel filter this hard to get to. Maybe I can reach if from under neath the grease pit.
