Recently I restored my door panels. I used Wedgewood blue SEM paint, but it does not match the dash/pillar posts/kick panels/etc. Much lighter. I have some pillar post covers from an '83, not installed only as a backup, but those are a very dark blue. My interior is kinda in between those two. Kind of a blue-gray I suppose. I can't find the color code for the interior color, only the exterior paint. Anyone know what color this blue-gray is called and the dark blue?
(The back of my door panels have this info: C6 71A EITE-1023891-AW)
The cap color on the cans looked correct, but once on the panels, it is much brighter than the cap color led me to believe. I don't mind redoing the panels, but want the matching color to what my interior vinyl is.
My FSM has codes, but Blue is the only color indicated. The C6 71A must be the color code, but I can't fine a tag with the interior color codes.
I can't find the color code for the interior color
The code is on the Safety Certification Label on the driver's door jamb; do you no
longer have such a label?
I have/had a site bookmarked at work somewhere that had good color charts of
factory colors, might have been SEM products' site? I think it was uncle.stosh
(former forum member) who posted it, you might use the advanced search of this
forum's archives to see if you can find it.
As a weird coincidence, the 1981 name for the blue you want is "wedgewood blue".
Does not mean it's the same color as Sems wedgewood blue, but it's probably a close match just a shade off I'd imagine.
1981 Interior color codes for Wedgewood Blue:
Body Code: B
Suffix: G3B / 34B
Specification: MBCAXXG / XXJ
Reference #: 4117G / J
Look at the safety certification lable on the B pillar. There will be a box with three sections. The first section is seat trim. The Second section is interior color, and the third is back of cab code.
If the truck was originally factory "wedgewood blue" it will have Code "B" in the second box.
And for completion, the factory colors for the interior offered in 1981.
Black: Code A
Spruce: Code R
Nutmeg: Code T
Medium Red: Code D
Wedgewood Blue: Code B
Fawn: Code U
I got out my magnifying glass and a strong light to read the sticker. Very dim after almost 30yrs. Wedgewood is the Ford color. The color cap of the SEM Wedgewood paint is very close to my original Ford color. I'd say it is accurate given my interior was manufactured 30yrs ago and time takes its toll. The paint that came out of the can is very-much brighter than the color cap indicated. I used almost 2 spray-cans and both were the same color-shade, but not like the cap-color. To me, it didn't matter what the can named the color, I was going by the cap-color only and that was a close-enough match. What came out of the cans was different. I never expected a perfect match but....
I seem to recall Em had a problem with the SEM Wedgewood color also, so I'm going to PM her and see if we had the same outcome.
Thanks
I'd put up photos, but I always forget the 'how to' part......

Came across this thread after searching how to figure out my interior color. I am trying to order some dye (SEM or Colorbond) for my 81 F150 Ranger Lariat. Apparently I'm too d@mn dumb to read my label on the driver side door jamb though. I don't see anything on there that specifies interior color. Exterior color codes, tire pressures, weights I see, interior I don't. Can anyone help me out here? Thanks in advance.
Look for BODY at the bottom of the sticker. Lets say that code is BA4 on a light truck. B=vinyl bench seat. A=Black trim 4=Styleside Pick-Up
Ranger Lariat codes are a bit different than LT codes. Post your BODY code
Quick there parr4! Right after posting I called the dealership and what he said is exactly the same thing you did above. Only thing is he couldn't tell me what the third digit means on that code. He says first two identify the color.
Anyway, my BODY code is HUM (dealer says that means interior color is fawn). What does the M stand for?
$1,000,000 question is where do I get this color interior dye?
LG, here is a color chart for SEM's color coat paints. Don' think i see an exact match on there. Looks like its a cross between Light buckskin and Palamino,

Thanks FordNFishin. I was thinking the same thing but wasn't sure if it was just my mind talking me into it because of the fawn/buckskin thing. I guess I may just order a can and see how it looks.
I was on LMC truck and they offer Color bond in a saddle color for my truck, but don't know how close that shade is either. I really want SEM because everyone around here swears by it.
