I have a 95 PSD last week the truck has started to have a hard time starting. it trys to fire but then dosnt if i keep tryin it will start seems to start when i hold the throttle pedal down. just replaced Icp,Ipr, fuel filter , Cam sensor, load tested batterys everything good, new fuel filter, oil change was done 4k miles ago, the truck has 175,000 mile on it has cold air intake thats it. the truck left me sit an wouldn't start a month ago changed cam sensor on the side of the road fired right up when this started to happen i put my spare cam sensor in just to make sure but didnt fix it. sorry for the long post gotta pull my race car trailer to NY this weekend gotta have the truck running right. Thanks Ryan
Has it been warm enough for it to start without the glow plugs lately? If not then I'd ohm the glow plug wires from the relay feed to the plus, valve cover connector outer two pins to battery negative and engine ground, just to be safe, then go on from there till you find the short. Bad connectors are fairly common.
I hate to say it because it sounds like I am throwing parts at it. But I would get another CPS. It may be wasted money but these do have a tendency to be bad even when new.
i put my spare in last night the truck fired right up and this morning, thought it was fixed, but when i got home i restarted it and it did it again. cant see that being the problem but will try it. anything else on these trucks that will cause it not to start right up. why dose it start if i hold the throttle down? thanks for the help so far Ryan
