Shazam-me again

hey--- now that I know the details about using 351c heads on my 400 I was hoping that you could let me in on the details of the 302 Boss heads because I know that you have one with them. This will be in a truck that is just about a toy Rod but I will have to depend on it to get me from college to home once in a while (300 miles). So I don't want 3 gallons to the mile and fouled plugs in 15 minutes. So if this sounds like a good idea for me then what has to be done for the conversion and how does this motor run with them? Thanks a bunch man

Hey Billy : Well first off I'd just leave the motor alone that's in the truck now seeing it's your main mode of transportation. And as money becomes available I'd put a real stump puller motor together for when you get out of college.

But for the street and off road use I'd stick to the aussie 2V heads, They'll give you the low end you need and a little better fuel milage then the 4V heads.

As far as how to put the Boss 302 heads on a 400, You have to drill some 5/8" holes in the heads to line up with the water passage in the block,or over heating will occure and you have to make sure you plug off the water crossover outlets that are in the Boss 302 heads. The adapter plates you use to put the 351c intakes on the 400 will do that. But make sure you use good silicone sealer inbetween the plates and head to seal this port off, and you have to use some silicon on the front intake bolts as they end up in the water port.. Otherwise it's a straight forward bolt on.
