Hi guys! Fairly new to forum, but thought I'd throw my 2 cents in here. I've seen several V10 vs Diesel debates already, and of course the throwout of the GM 6.0 vs the V10.

Here's my problem: the 6.0 isn't the competition (or wasn't from ~MY 00 to MY 06) for the V10. In the "heavy duty" GM line, the 6.0 is the base... it's comparable to the 5.4. The TRUE comparison is not the the 6.0, but GM's ACTUAL biggest gasser, the 8.1. The reason I bring this up is it is what I owned prior to my 04 CC/Diesel 250. I haven't pulled much with my new truck, but I pulled several times with my Grandfather's 250 w/ a V10, and my 8.1. The 8.1 hands down, under all circumstances. HORRIBLE MILEAGE THOUGH!!!

Your (and my!) enthusiasm for Ford trucks notwithstanding, the Car and Driver article took them offroad, and did a pulling pass test with a load (within it's rating!). What more was expected? IFS does ride better... I'm torn between enjoying a nice comfortable ride, and knowing there's less to break and it's a bit tougher. As the host says, if it can do the same things... or better, AND ride nicer, you'd take the bad ride so you can say your tougher??

Off topic: what was botched on the brake overriding the engine thing??? I'm curious because I followed that article and didn't notice anything.

In the first video, did he really say the Super Duty had "Dodge-like styling"?

Exactly what I'm thinking... we'll see who's left standing after a few years. What gets me is that there seems to be a degree of arrogance with any Chevy owner that gets on me about my Ford... they give me all the "four-letter word", "fix or repair daily", and "found on road dead" crap and lead on like they've got the pot of gold. Where I was working, there was this guy that had a 1500 (keep in mind what's in my signature) and he had a load of mulch in his truck... he yelled at me "This is what a Silverado can do!" I'd like to see him put that FULL pallet of sacrete I had in his truck. Then he led on about the Ford he followed home that had it's "nose" high up in the air... he's telling me "You'll see the light someday." The thing is, you can't talk with those guys... you just have to smile and know that you'll be around long after his "American Revolution" is over.

I do have a sorta-kinda question though... wasn't Ford in business before Chevy?

When you look at GM's total truck sales, did Ford ever out sell them?

What year V10? You have to remember that there were 3 diffrent heads used. Even though the 8.1 came out in 01, it took ford until 05 to build a v10 with more HP and TQ.
An 8.1 will beat the 97-99 and 00-04 V10s.

The NBS does look much more like a Dodge than the OBS trucks did, I think thats what He meant.

In the past no Ford didn't sell more trucks than GM. However currently Ford is ahead of GM in truck sales. Its interesting how things have turned out.

His V10 was an 01 or 02 w/~50k miles on it. I was always appreciative of the softer ride on my GM, but after just a few days, the Ford's ride doesn't seem as harsh anymore. It's definitely roomier (not sure what the guy in the video REALLY saw different between the interiors on the Xcabs) in the Crew Cab to Crew Cab comparison, and in general seems "airier" from side to side. Bottom line is when I was looking for a tow rig, plenty of both Ford and GM's around and I ended up with a Ford. Nuff said.

I hate to say it but he is right there. Dodge started the new styling in 94 I believe. Everyone just followed suit. As a matter of fact there is not to many options on a truck that Dodge didnt do first.

Actually...go farther back. The 1980 Ford Medium duty trucks, and then the 1988 Ford Aeromax had that front end styling first.
Something many people forget about.....
