I got the settlement and just about paid off the wifes car (04 Grand Prix GTP CompG), refinanced and got nice low payments. So due to us trying to have another child and all of our animals we cart everywhere the wife made the decision that we needed to get her something more sensible. Soooo like any good husband I am getting her this:
It is what she wants even though I wanted something else (06 Expy limited). We are picking it up Saturday and I will be taking over the Pontiac. I plan to sell the Pontiac and take that money and stash it until I can get more to go with it to buy another F250/350. I would have just gone ahead and bought a truck but the wife made good points about it still not being very family friendly even though I wanted a crew cab.
I'm slowly reaching my goal to have another great Ford Truck. At least this way I will have leverage to get exactly what I want.
So an Crew Cab isn't considered an family type truck?
Not really.. can you fit 2 baby seats, 3 dogs (2 medium, 1 large), and luggage? Wouldn't have a tonneau cover/camper shell (wouldn't want one anyway). Keep in mind the dogs definitely would not be put in the back of the truck for a 200+ mile trip which we do frequently. And then there is the weather..
Why wouldn't you get a camper shell and put the dogs in the back? You can take it off and put it on when you need it. Or you can build a dog house to go in the back and same thing put it in and out when you need it. It is safer for dogs to ride in the back in a confined space then to be inside vehicle anyway.
Then if you have a topper you can put the luggage in the back to.
Yeah personnel pref is fine but there is no way you can claim a crew cab is not a family friendly truck
In my opinion, in my own personal preference and in my situation the truck is not a family friendly vehicle. Now had I not had the animals or at least fewer then I would consider it family friendly, the crew cab holds a ton of stuff. Case in point...last year we loaded up for a 400 mile trip, 1 car seat + dog + luggage for a week long getaway.... worked great.
I'm not talking smack about the truck if that is your impression, that was not the intention of my post. Now had I had blatantly said "Hey this truck sucks as a family vehicle" and/or posted on someone else's post then I could see how you would get offended. Oh and I still have to live with my wife..are you trying to get me kicked out of the house?

You tell him. I have two baby seats and two full size dogs. I hated the camper shell at first but now I love it Nice and dry and you can sleep back there if needed. Oh well to each his own. I wouldn't trade mine for and suv on the planet let alone a Pontiac car you sure cant fit three dogs and two baby seats in one of them. at least not comfortably.

I wouldn't trade mine either but then it is in a junkyard now. You guys are killing me. The wife is getting the expy, I'll be getting the Pontiac temporarily, and then I'll be buying a truck. What's the big deal? I wanted to share the news with fellow Ford enthusiasts and look at the grief I get.
