05+ wheels on 01

Ok guys, after ALOT of thinking over the past few years, the ONLY wheels I really like for my truck (stock or aftermarket) are the factory 20's after 2005. I know they dont bolt up and adapters are needed. Is this due to the off set being wrong or is it because the wheels are hub centric and the hub opening in the wheel is wrong? Also, does anyone know of any aftermarket wheels that looks similar that will work? I DONT want to use adapters on my truck, so that not an option... Thanks guys...

The backspacing on the newer wheels is different. Here is a vid that should clear things up for you.

I believe it is because the bolt spacing is different.

I think starting in '03 the spacing changed to 170mm, so the lug nuts will not align with the hole spacing on the rim.

Thats exactly what I thought would be the case.... I know some guys swear by the $600 adapters, but I just dont trust em. Guess I will stick to something thats made for my truck.

That's inaccurate. My 2000 has the 8x170mm spacing. The only things that are needed to change to the newer wheels are spacers. If you don't want to use spacers, then you're stuck with the old wheels.

I know on my canyon I had the opposite problem with aftermarket wheels.... It had the same bolt pattern as the full size trucks so all of the wheel companies said that the rims they made for the full size trucks would fit. All of the wheels out there stuck way out and looked like crap. I was in the process of trying to see if wheels could be machined down to make them fit right when I found a set someone had for sale that they had custom made to fit the truck. I was hoping it was an issue like this so I could machine down a factory set, but obviously not.
