Central Cali guy needs some direction

Hello Steve and friends,

So long story short my girlfriend and i and pulling into Grand Terrace Ca. Late Saturday night with a horse trailer. We are purchasing two horses on Sunday. We need somewhere to pull into and sleep in my trailer. We were thinking of just hitting a Walmart parking lot, if someone could give us some ideas that would be great.

Thanks

It woulda helped if you had passed along the info on where Grand Terrace is located.

I've lived in CA for over 65 years, visited as many cities/towns as Huell Howser has, but I've never heard of Grand Terrace. I had to look for it on a map.

It's located south of the I-10, east of the 91 freeway between Colton and Riverside.

There's a Wal Mart right off of I-215 Nolan...very close to Grand Terrace.

Walmart Store #1692
1120 S. Mt. Vernon Avenue
Colton, CA 92324

Honestly though, if I had to choose between two I'd go to this one:

Walmart Store #1992
1540 W. Foothill Blvd
Upland, CA 91786

It's not right next to the interstate, but I think it's a better choice.

Nolan....now that I think of it Carlos (8tsixt) lives out that way. (he's on the 7.3 RHN too)

Here's his profile: Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums - View Profile: 8tsixt

He might have some better ideas. Better local knowledge for sure.

If you are comfortable parking at a truck stop, there is a TA Travel Center about 15 miles west of Grand Terrace. It's a big one, on both sides of the I-10.

TravelCenters of America | The one stop for all your travel needs | Ontario West Travel Center #162

Walmart might work, but I have found that the ones in urban areas are not always welcoming to overnighters. Sometimes by city ordinance.

Nolan, as other guys have mentioned above. You can stay at Walmart right off the 15fwy and Foothill blvd. That Walmart is open 24hours a day if you need a late snack or anything else. The TA is right off the 10freeway off Milliken just south. If I had a big property you guys would be welcome to stay with us, unfortunately I dont have that.
I hope I was of some help.

You know the TA Travel Centers have showers. Nothing like a shower after a long drive. And they have food courts or at the very least fast food.

And sometimes, Lot Lizards. One of those T/A's has had a reputation for 'em.

I have always herd stories of bad things happening to people camped out in truck stops. I do know that TA's in general are very respectable places.

Carlos,

What is the area like around there, is it pretty safe?

I've caught some zzzz's in truck stop lots a few times. Never felt unsafe as far as crime is concerned. There are always a lot of eyes around. But that is also the downside. Lots of noise too. I think the Flying-J has the best service for campers, but TA is always clean and well stocked too.

Just like anywhere, we have our good and our bad. I would honestly stay at the Walmart I mentioned above.
