Reproduction core support

How well does the reproduction core support fit? Is it lightweight and junk, or is it a pretty good piece? I'm going to have to modify it for '66 which should just mean adding some angled steel brackets to hold the inner fenders. Please correct me if I'm wrong! Let me know what you guys think of this part...

Seeing as it is the only choice unless you find a pristine southwest one Cheezy or junk is moot.

They are the same guage mild steel as original and once painted there is no difference and are a pretty decent copy. Obviously the ford product was quite the piece of junk seeing how they dissapeared in the rust belt like toilet paper.

I had to drill a couple holes in the core support I received from LMC when putting it into my '66. However, I think that was due more to the "interesting" engineering of a previous owner than with the core support itself. It is decent gauge metal, and painted nicely, though.

Can you explain the holes? How did you fab the supports for the inner fenders?

66Core Support Re-Pop

The Re-pop is a good piece. Fits 61-65 easier than the 66 due to the radiator and inner fender mounts. Several here have made them work on 66. Really no big deal and better than dealing with twisted or rusted metal. I sawed off the bottom of the Re-Pop core and welded it to the upper salvaged section of my original. Now I have a rust free, straight core support that is perfect! Adding the inner fender brackets and using a 65 style radiator might be easier, I don't know.

FTE member Gangstakr has some used rust free CA core supports that fit 1966: F100/250 2WD's and F100 4WD's.
