Transmission storage???

I was wondering if anyone could reccomend the correct way to store a transmission. I just bought a good tranny for my wifes nissan maxima (i know, not a ford, but i had to ask someone). My question is how to store it to prevent the seals from drying out and giong bad. Should i fill the tranny to the top with fluid to coat all the parts, or drain it completely? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Joe.

Transmission storage???

I'd fill it to prevent condensation inside and spray white lithium grease on the outside of all the exposed seals. Just put it in a big plastic storage box (like Wal-Mart sells for stashing wrapping paper) to catch any oil that leaks out.

How long do you expect to store it?

Remove it and bag off the opening. The TC is supported mostly by the engine and leaving it on the transmission will damage the seal. Everything else I don't see much to worry about.
