Hard Shifting when Hot
I just bought my second ranger and I have noticed this truck does not like to shift when it is hot. My previous ranger didn't like the cold, which seemed normal. But this truck has a hard time with 1-2 and 2-3shifts when it is hot. Sometimes it almost rolls to a stop before 2nd with engage! Talk about a pain in traffic! I don't force gears because i dont want to bend anything. Has anyone experienced this before? I dont think the clutch is dragging because if i hold the clutch in for a second at a stop light, i can grab first pretty easily. I just replaced the tranny fluid with mobile 1 synthetic atf and that helped a little.
The truck has 80k miles and I bought it from an old guy (original owner) that babied it. I really doubt the syncros are worn out. The truck has a new clutch with about 1000 miles on it. The slave was also replaced at the time of the clutch.
Look in the Tech info thread atop this forum for clues on how to get a good bleed on the clutch systems hydraulics & see how it goes.
