duraspark II swap
i've read that this model bronco featured a feedback carb setup with a fuel injected carb or something or the other. it seems retarded, and the truck is only used for offroading and driving around on the farm.
so basically in a nutshell i'm trying to convert the fuel/ignition system to an older more reliable carb/distributor setup with no dumb gimped out version of fuel injection. i've read that this is called a duraspark II swap. and i can get the parts i need off of older donor vehicles.
the problem is i can't find a full writeup of what's needed and exactly what to do. i'm sortof mechanically inclined as i know i can do this work, but i just don't really know where to begin. i was hoping someone on this site has experience with this and could point me in the right direction.
sorry for the wall of text, and thanks for any help.
The Duraspark and Duraspark II setup were strictly an ignition system. Neither of which are very reliable in my opinion... The "brains" these systems use are prone to sudden instant failure at very inopportune moments. If you are going to go to strictly a carb setup then you could easily go to an old points/condenser ignition as well. If you want details about the 300 and what is available for it, check with AbandonedBronco. He is running a non-EFI 300 in his '81. My brother is running a 300 in his early Bronco ('76) with a points/condenser distributor from a '73 300. If I recall correctly, 73 was about the last year for this setup which would make it the "newest" points/condenser distributor you can get your hands on for a 300. There may well be other options but my knowledge of non-EFI engines is far more limited than others here.
