We are pretty protective of the Chapter...............We have had people join and then never post in the chapter, only in their "area" of interest. Up until recently, the chapter was lagging, with Dons guidance and the loyal core we have come far.........So welcome!, and don't hold it against us guys who watch the flock!

Pop's good tonight. Had nice weather today, at about 75 degrees mid-day. A friend came by and I loaned him my Lietz B-4 and tripod for a basement leveling, and we discussed the wooden toys his woodworking club is making for under-priveliged kids for Christmas. I always enjoy friends dropping by to chat. Got some good solo time today with my favorite dog, too.
At fourteen weeks and 34 pounds, your pup is gonna' grow up to be a big boy! Since they want sooooo much to please, do him a favor and make sure he gets a basic obedience course, as the basics will last him a lifetime of knowing what to do.
Labs are fabulous dogs, and a GREAT choice for man's best friend! Just ask SteveBricks about Max!
We have had Labs for 25 years.............This one has got to be the smartest yet, he already is fully housebroke and knows most basic and some not so basic commands. He has excellent instincts, he stalks, points, and ambushes the Basset hound!......She is getting tired of him!.......If I was financially able, I think he would be a bona fide field trial dog. Has excellent "friendship" skills.......we settled on a name the day we brought him home.........RANGER!
Labs are great dogs. I prefer Rottweilers for general use dogs. They aren't as smart but I love them. My family had a german pointer or setter, forget which that we bird hunted with for like 10 years. We also had a Pomeranian, that we shaved to look like a lion. The bird dogs name was "Hammer" and we used to say "Hammer Hammer" and the Pomeranian used to say something close to hammer, it was very cool. Sadly, we lost hammer in a flood in idaho one time. He went in after a younger bird dog when our ranch flooded over there. It took out the bridge, and the river was swelling the banks on the other side. The first bird dog went in and hammer went in after him. I was in my pickup and was speeding as fast as I could down the river I was probably doing 30 miles an hour down a muddy river road, trying to get ahead of them, but sadly I never could and the river road ended and we lost them. Really a sad moment.
We lost all 3 of our 15yr old dogs last year and early this year, 2 Black Labs and a Great Pyrenees. Real hard seeing them get too old to be themselves and trying, but just not making it.
I think losing that dog was much worse than any break up with a girl friend, haha. I have yet to find another dog that I love as much as Hammer. He was a great dog. I hope to get another some day and train him for bird hunting, but I really have no idea how hard it would be as family members trained Hammer.

OK, Tell us about Max................If its a story about a Lab, we know it contains plenty of tore up backyard, chewed furniture, and angry neighbors!

I agree with that. Here a couple years ago we had a Rottweiler and she developed a tumor on her leg. She would always climb up the stairs to get to her bed, but it was hard for her. After about a month of her having that cancerous tumor we determined that it was just not worth the risk of her having a break in that leg and being in more pain. We had to have her put down. Although Hammer had no problems to speak of he was getting old and would get worn out in the field. But boy did he love to chase birds. A lot of times we had to just leave him in the truck with the window down and run the younger dogs, I don't know if it was worse or better on him, but I would like to believe he passed away a happy dog. At least, hes up there chasing birds in the sky now.
