I searched the forum and found a bunch of questions on where to find the pins. I found several sources. My question is related to installation. I'd like to do the install without pulling the doors. Most of the aftermarket pins come with an E clip to lock them in place. None of the Ford Pins I've found have the E clip. Is it possible to somehow peen the pin after its been installed? Even the guys at Bronco Graveyard were surprised when they pulled one and it didn't have the E Clip. The response was that I could machine the Pin for the E clip. There's got to be a better way.
No pins I have removed from older ford doors ever had clips either. You could cut a groove for a clip with a hacksaw pretty easy though or just put a spot of weld on the bottom of the pin once it's installed, it wouldn't take much to keep them from working thier way out.
Yep, you read correctly. I knew to originals weren't clipped, but I believe they were peened at the factory to keep the pin from popping out. I like the washer idea. sounds like it will keep everything neat.
I know it worked for me a few years ago on a 76 supercab.. remember to blocck the door up though so it doesn't fall and bend something.. Really not that big a deal to take it plum off though..
