It's driving me crazy! I have a "clunk" sound from under what seems the left hand front side of the truck. I can feel it in my feet when it happens. I have just recently replaced the ball joints and installed a dual steering stabilizer. The clunk was there before I replaced my ball joints but now seems to be worse and more loud. The sway bar end links are a little worn but not loose. The steering bar from the pitman arm down to the passenger wheel is tight and the tie rods are all tight. AUGH!! It's really annoying and unnerving at best. Without spending a fortune and part swapping, any ideas?
I have the same problem and so do others that I know. I just replaced the shocks, front sway bar links, steering stabilizer, left front u-joint and upper and lower ball joints on left.............clunk still there.
I did notice when replacing the sway bar links that the hole in the bracket and frame where the upper link bolts connect is a good bit larger than the diameter of the bolt. Pretty sloppy set up and would seem that the bolt could be moving up and down no matter how much you torque it. At first I thought maybe the hole had been rounded out but it was the same on both sides and the bolts were as tight as could be. I put a post up about it but no-one has responded?
Remove sawy bar and links. If the clunk goes away it is links. If not keep lloking. SOme on here talk about body mounts. Are you hearing and feeling it only on your side or passenger side as well.

It's hard to distinguish at times, but I definitely "feel" it under my feet when it happens. Sometimes I think it's relegated to one side, but then I'll hit another bump and it makes me doubt it. I'll take the end links off and see what the holes look like.
Landbarg, there is another current thread on here about the same problem. Find it and there is a ton of info in it. I had the same clunk, and mine turned out to be the front left body mount bolt. It is under the carpet on the drivers floor. Put some never seize on it and tighten her back down. I did both sides just to cover it...No more clunk for me.
I had a clunk up front and it was one of the track bar bolts. It had worked it's way loose to about 3/4".
I had to replace it because the threads ahd been boogered up.
FYI torque for that bolt is 450 ft pnds
lanbarg did you take sway bar off to test that. I just replaced my links and my clunk is gone. Now i need to figure out why i feel 3 jolts when accelarating. Teh wierd thing it is not alwasy. Almost feels like the rear wheels are slippn grabbing 3 times in a row real quick and slight.

Maybe lubricate the splines on the slip yoke on the driveshaft? That has been a source for what you describe....
The sway bar end links are a little worn but not loose.
The sway bar frame bushings will also cause a clunk. I replaced mine a year ago with Moog but the clunk returned a few weeks ago. I just installed Energy Suspension bushings and the clunk is gone - I expect these to last much longer. (Note, they are called frame bushings, but they are actually mounted on the axle.)
I had a similar clunk which was driving me nuts. I replaced the end-links and it made no difference. The clunk went away when I replaced the sway bar bushings.
