first time back in truck post surgery

well guys im happy to report that the docs did a good job as far as i can tell so far.
im about 2 1/2 weeks past my back surgery.
the wife has a GMC yukon xl that we like alot for the room . it has all you could need, leather seats, tv's for the boys it has it all. we like it so much its the second one we have owned.
she has taken me to see the doc twice in it sense i came home.
well i felt good this weekend and ask to take me to town about 30 miles from where we live to the mall to get me some new walking shoes.
most all my shoes or steel toe or nice cowboy boots.
doc told me to start walking every day.
well i ask the wife to take me in my truck it looked so lonely and sad having not been cranked in a few weeks.
she argued that its to tall for me to get up into, runnung boards i said.
its to bouncy it will kill you before we can get back home.
i told her lets just try, the doc gave me some good pain meds ill bring one if i need it.
well kiss my behind the old truck felt better than her GMC.
something about the curve in the seats, a little adjustment of the lumbar deal and it feels good.
i was proud of the old girl(truck not wife) i kind of think she knew i was hurting and took it easy. lol
all in all im slowley getting better they cut me pretty good on this one.
had the last 2 disc in lower back trimed where they ruptured.
the nerves in my leg or giving me a fit but ill make it.
started theropy yesterday to get the walking better and back stronger.
im ready to get back to work. maybe 4 or 5 weeks to go.
my boss called me , he and i or pretty good friends and he is fair and a good boss, he said the welding jobs or stacking up for me, so he and my pipe fitter will be happy when i get back.
hope i get to going good before i have to go back to work i got a few projects i thought of for the truck .

Don, great news brother. Sounds like a go all the way around. A man always heals better/faster when he knows he's needed (work), and that the bills will still be getting paid! God speed.

Welcome back.
Glad the surgery went well.
Keep walking every day and maybe work your way up to riding a bicycle daily.

Don,
Nice to hear you are healing. Be careful with that back. I have had 4 back surgeries (lower 2 levels) over the last 4 years and trust me when I say be careful. Take your time and let it heal.

As for the truck, I am the same way. My truck seats feel a lot better on my back than the wife's Suburban. Heated seats are the next thing on my list for my truck.

X2 !

I had L4-L5 done last September. I was off 7 weeks and went back 4 hrs a day for a few weeks after that. Up to full time again, but going for another MRI on Mon. I have been soooo careful but still having the same issues as before surgery. I hope yours goes better.

My truck seats are far more comfortable than our car seats.

Best of luck to ya!

Don
good to hear you are on the mend, I know what you are going through. I had that done in 1979 and have had on problem at all. Good luck and just don't over do it, nothing is worth slowing down your recovery.
