I think my temp gage is off but not sure?
It will travel back and forth from the first mark to the N on Normal But on the way home it stayed at the N for about 30 min all down hill so I am thinking it should be at the N always??
So what does yours do??
I would install it where the overheat light sensor goes instead of the guage sensor. Once you have a real guage, you will find yourself looking at instead though.
I haven't gotten around to installing aftermarket gauges yet. But my factory gauge was acting exactly the same way and I had 2 issues. First the connector behind the alternator was loose and a gentle pinch with a pair of pliers stopped most of the erratic behaviour. Then last weekend I replace the thermostat (from ford of course) and now it consistently sits between the "o" and the "r".
But like mentioned above, real gauges make a lot more sense.
we put a sun pro in my f250 93, as old temp gauge was also erratic. oil press. sending unit should be at center of engine next to fire wall , behind air filter assemb. to a seperate gauge. my temp stays in the 190 to 195 range

Mine is about the same for the first part i had problems with the sensor being erratic as well but pliers took care of that!!
My 7.3 gauge reads just under the N fully warmed up, and goes down abit, then slowlly comes back up, then goes down again. Does this all the time, when the t-stat opens.

Thats what I thought mine was doing but now that I have a gauge it just sits at 180 and my other gauge goes up and down! Stock gauges are junk!
I still spend more time here than I do in the Stroke forum, I have just been rather busy outside after the winter we had.
Yesterday my son and I were out looking at an 87 F350 4x4 IDI for his first 4 wheeled vehicle.
I think the driving his motorcycle in the rain and cold weather is getting old.
