My truck runs fine and I have had little trouble with it other than those darn cam positioning sensors. My truck smokes really bad when it is cold untill it warms up (white blueish smoke)and its hard on fuel.It has 250000km on it and has good power.Im thinking it could be injectors.
WELCOME TO FTE!!!
How cold is cold? What are the outside temperatures? Have you tried to pulg it in overnight to see if you have the same results?
Again WELCOME!
I spose I am was trying to weed out if it is a cold weather issue. I also believe you will get that if you have low or very old oil. But if it is oil it may run like buttox for a bit.
How long does the smoke last after getting it started?
I have bluish white smoke on start up as well and im pretty sure its injector orings. Does it clear up fairly fast or does it take a while? Mine clears up in a matter of seconds.

When I plug it in its not as bad,It smokes no matter what temp is out side until it warms up.

No it takes awhile,in the winter it could take 30min to clear it up.I read a post here that it could be the glow plugs.Someone told me they still heat after the engine is running intermeadately.I dont know if this is true.
its a 97 cope dog, doesn't have block heater stock, it was an add on that year.
but yea, if you have it. plug it overnight and see if it makes a difference.
blueish smoke on startup sounds like bad injector o-rings though.
Mines got the block heater and works good but sometimes I dont have access to power and when I start up its a smoke show. This truck starts good in the cold the plugs stay on for about 8-10 secs and it fires. Thanks it could be the injector o rings.Im worried that the piston rings are going I dont want that problem.
yes, they are on for up to 120 seconds i think depending on oil temp. The WTS light is just a dummy light. The glow plugs stay on after the engine is started to help reduce smoke. So your glow plugs could be bad but then you would be having a really hard time starting it in the cold. 30 min is an extremely long time for it to keep smoking blue.
My 95 smokes like a train when cold. The day after I got it, on a 12 degree morning, the EX Arizona truck was mighty pissed. She started but smoked something crazy.
Figured out she has a block heater and when I plug it in there is ZERO smoke.

In short, yes, will smoke when cold.
Agreed, But not for 30 minutes.

Thats true. Probably shouldn't for 30 mins. Although if its idiling I can see it smoking for a while since they don't get warm all that quickly under idle.
