I know the question has been asked a few times but....
I'm takin the stock amp out of my truck (my truck came with premium sound)
I called crutchfield since I got the wiring harness from them, the guy said the stock amp is located near the gas pedal.
I'm not seein it there, I've also heard its in the center of the truck somewhere.
Before I go tearin everything apart, does anyone know where it is so I don't have to play a guessing game?
Is there REALLY an amp from the factory in these trucks???? I thought the stereo was all of it. Don't need it now though, it would not come close to my 5 channel Memphis Bell amp I have now
I believe it is in a different location for the 97's though.
It really screwed me up when I installed my stereo, speaker wires wont work without the amp in there and powered.
So, if you want to remove the amp, which really doesnt' do a whole lot, you are gonna have to run a lot of wires.

Do a search for "Build Sheet" to get the contact info. Fill it out and send it in to get this information directly from Ford. I got mine a while back. The build sheet contains a LOT of information.
