I'd say keep it simple for a bit. Air filter mod and muffler deleate, if NY allows that due to any inspections. Then you need to decide what direction you want to go with your truck. Race, fuel economy or heavy towing. That will point you and us in the right direction.
Well ive had the truck for 7 years now did the K&N (I know big mistake) and a 4" turbo back Im looking for a bit more I use the truck as a everyday driver and I also tow alot with it and wanted to know if there was anything worth while out there.
Look into the CCV mod, it will clean things up under your hood, oily spider and intercooler boots will stay clean. Clay at RiffRaff diesel sells the kit and its a money friendly mod. Mines my daily driver also but PMS= Powerstroke Mod Syndrome hit me pretty good as you can see in my sig.
on that CCV mod i did mine for like 20 bucks or so.
go to the hardware store get 90 degree elbo,
3 band clamps
10' of heater grade hose and some hose clamps.
i would recommend getting a 4" piece of 4" exaust pipe (dont use PVC pipe it will melt.)
take your intake connection off going into the turbo, use a short philips size screw driver to remove the dog house off, make sure your 0 rings are ok under there if they arent replace them, i found it was easier to connect the 90 degree elbo before i reinsalled everything. clamp that down and screw in your doghouse. run your heater hose over the brake master cylinder and down under your cab, make sure it is always in a negative decending direction. once you have all that done, cut your 4" exaust pipe to about 3-4 inches. this will replace the CCV part that was inbetween the filter and the turbo, pop that in clamp everythign back down and your good to go.
there is more threads on this that probally have a better description but i figured it would kind of give you an idea
I don't get the desire for the CCV mod. It seems like lots of folks complain about the smell of oil or issues with the system they rigged up after that mod.
What about the in-tank mods, HPX, air filter (might require wicked wheel) and exhaust? I've read lots of good things about the in-tank mods.
in-tanks mods are a good one too. i took my IC pipes off to paint after the truck i bought had about 135k on it, you wouldnt believe how much oil gets into that through the intake.
i like it becuase it keeps the oil out of the intake and keeps the turbo clean too. the smell isnt bad at all i have it right inter my driver door. i like seeing the smoke come out of under the cab when im at a stop sign lol. ide say do it. also do those in tanks, thats next on my list......ohhhhhh PMS and im not talkin about my girl
