just bought this truck and all of the guages dont work . the fuel guage pegs all the way past full when u turn it on. and the voltage guage does not work. can some one please tell me were i can start looking for this problem. thanks for your help
As for the voltage gauge, take your alternator and battery to Autozone and have them checked. Also make sure your plugs are attached to the alternator and in good condition.
The fuel gauge has me stumped also. I have the same exact problem on my 88. I started a thread yesterday on this with a little more information that I'll copy and paste below.
I have an 88 that is giving me fuel gauge problems. The gauge stays pegged out on Full, even when the battery is disconnected, and switching front/rear tanks changes nothing, removing the front/rear switch changes nothing. I removed the cover from the cluster and moved the needle to Empty, hooked up the battery, and when I turn on the key it goes to full and stays.
Bad ground? If so, where?
