Hey guys I am a member of the CMRO (Canadian Mud Racers Organization) and am running a 1988 F-150... My question has to do with the options |I have for transmissions.... I have found a C-6 with transfer case out of a 1980 Ford Ranger and was hoping it will be an easy swap to my 302-V8... Can anybody help me out????
Thanks
1988 F-150 Dubbed "CIRCLED-MISTAKE"
302 V-8
AOD Tranny (not for long)
Borg Warner T-Case
8.8 with 3:55
6" Suspension Lift
37" Tires
4"Body lift
As long as the transmission of the ranger unbolted from a I-6 300, 302 V8, or 351W you will be fine as far as bolting goes. All Small block Fords can use the same transmissions and bell housings. Have fun with it.
Should be the same as your truck (New Process) NP208, NP208F, or (Borg Warner) BW1345
Both will be aluminum cases; however they did not have the 4x4 button actuated system (switch on the dash) back in the day it was all shift on the fly (floor). Both are chain driven, and both will take automatic transmission fluid. I'm pretty sure the only difference between the NP208 and the NP208F is that one is a slip yoke and one is an attached yoke. I personally like attached yokes as it makes U-joint swaps in the field a simple matter.
