95 explorer trans shifting problem

95 explorer trans shifting problem

1995 ford explorer with 180000 miles runs great but everytime i shift from park to reverse or reverse to drive the trans slams into gear also shifting funny sometimes very hard sometimes engine revs then shifts need and idea what it is trans fluid is fine and am due for another trans filter change want to fix while have pan off thanks

I had this problem in my 2004 Explorer and the dealer replaced a solenoid (sp?) and it was flawless after that.

Sorry I don't. My Explorer at the time was under warranty and they took care of it for me.

Solenoids often come as a pack of 2,3 or 4, I don't remember which. When you replace them be certain that the wiring harness is in good shape. Check with the dealer for the availability, in stock or order before you start.
