Dang Joe!!! Solid state drive and an i7 processor???? cha-CHING-a-LING!!!! very nice!!! please tell me you're running 64bit!

i have a Dell Precision M4400 (dual 3.06 procs, 4GB RAM) and have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and love it. Aero desktop is awesome. I use it at work also and it's great. Go for it!

I've been a fan of xp pro for a long time, bought a new laptop last year w/ vista preinstalled. Hated it! it was slower and more glitchy than the 5 year old laptop it replaced.

Rebuilt my home computer (core i7 920, 6gb ddr3, 5870 graphics, 80gb ssd for OS and 1.5 TB hd for storage) and installed win7 ult 64. Plus a 28" Hanns-g monitor for a xmas gift. This thing is awesome! Installed win 7 on the lappy, night and day difference.

All my stuff either worked fine on 64 or I was able to find updated versions for 64bit.

I've been running Win7 since beta - hardware support is quite a bit better than Vista's, actually... Most hardware has Win7 drivers out for it - for those that don't, Vista and XP (not XP 64-bit) drivers will work. I've had to use XP drivers on 7 more than once and have not any problem...

Also, I would suggest going with Professional as you don't really gain that much going to Ultimate and there is a substantial price difference...

I am a dinosaur!!!!!!!!

I'm running XP Pro on every pc in the house! (Well, one OLD MAC is OS 8 or 9.)

Actually, the VPN for work, is not compatible with anything other than XP, and I'm required to have access 24/7.

XP suits me just fine.
