Water pump replacement parts

I'm getting ready to replace my water pump, serpentine belt and hoses and temp. sensor on my 2003 F250 CC 4x4 SB. I was thinking of replacing all the pulleys and related tensioners as well. I've read enough here to figure on using the riff raf pump. Should I buy the thermostat as well, just because it's apart? What about the other parts? Do you all think the napa belts and hoses and such are a good choice?

Thanks,
Wayne

I would say, Water pump, Thermostat gasket, lower outlet pipe o ring, sensors if you want, new thermostat housing, new thermostat, and upper radiator hose for a 7.3 with dual alternators. That way you can change the belt without removing the hose in the future...

On the belt, I would get the gates belt or motorcraft. My original Ford belt lasted me around 225000 miles, so I just went with that one again. I shredded a gatorback and decided to go factory again.

Thanks!
I just bought the truck with 150k on it and don't know what's been done to it. I like the security of being on the road and not worrying about all those things. The temp sensor is seeping a little, though.

If you get a new temp sensor, make sure it plugs in before you leave. The Ford pn is not right. What the dealer ended up giving me was an EOT sensor. If the sensor is working right, you usually can get by applying a little sealant to the threads. Don't use too much though.

I ordered the oem pump from riff raff along with the thermostat. I ordered the serpentine belt from our ford dealership and I'll order a temp sensor and the hoses from napa. I'll be sure it plugs in before I leave.

I want to thank all you guys for your help! I feel really comfortable that I'll be getting something I can depend on.

Glad to have yaa here Waynenap, before long, you'll be broke like us, lol. A little pre-maintance goes a long way, you'll be very happy with your truck. Prevoius vehicles I've owned, if they got over 90,000 miles, I would always worry when I took long trips, not with my truck, 137,000 and I feel comfortable going anywhere, thats how much faith I have in my truck and with proper maintence, you should too.

I figured out what the lower o ring is, it's for the heater hose outlet pipe.

Welcome aboard!

Just thought I would let you know that the upper radiator hose leading from the radiator into the engine is where you will find your thermostat. Once you pull the hose off the block you will find a stamped piece of steel held in by 3 bolts, this will contain your thermostats.

While you may already know that, I thought I would tell you that if you aren't careful you will have a leak from hell out of that stamped piece of steel. I changed my coolant and tstat out while I was getting ready for my long haul to Alaska. Then I ended up with a leak I couldn't fix from the thermostat. I replaced the gasket and tried several different levels of tightening on the 3 bolts holding down the stamped piece.

In the end I had over tightened it the first time and bent it. I bought another one for 40 something dollars and was very careful the second time I installed it.

Just a simple little tip that could save you big head aches.

Don't forget the idler and tensonier pulleys. You can replace just the bearings if you have the skills ($1.47 each at the bearing supply), or the whole pulley. They should be about due for replacement at that mileage.

Incidentally, the thermostat does have the o ring of sorts attached to it. I got it from Clay, so I'm sure it works.

And now I know you guys will be dissappointed with me, but I won't be doing that job myself. I'm just not up to the task for a water pump. A friend of mine who is semi retired and does some of my heavy stuff will do it.

The fact is, I'll be at work while this is going on, and my son has taken back the digital camera I was using before.
