I took my truck to the dealer to be diagnosed a week ago and they told me my egr cooler was leaking but not blown and they also told me my ICP sensor was bad. They also told me injector #4 was showing low readings but this was most likely from the ICP being bad and not to sweat it.. They flashed the ECU and updated the FICM as well...
My cousin and I did:
FULL First coast diesel EGR Delete kit
Ford oil cooler rebuild
VC9 Flush
everything was done by the book 110%
ICP sensor
updated wiring
We flushed the coolant 3 times after the install and it came out clear so we used ford gold coolant and filled the system 50/50 with distilled water.
The truck runs WAY better and im happy with the work we performed HOWEVEr the truck seems to break up a little bit around 2-2500RPM's and i want it to be back to 100% bad!!! Would it be safe to assume its the #4 injector and just replace it??
Should I go back to Ford to be sure? They charged me $350 the last time and really didnt give me any solid answers that I already didnt know.... I have a **** ton of time and money wrapped into this and I want the truck to be back running top notch before I get updated tunes from Eric.
any codes. sadly its hard to say without the truck and an ids here, the slight breakup could be from air in the oil rail still (takes about 100miles to get rid of all of it) to an injector, oil rail standpipe ect.
2 codes (after install) both are EGR related due to it being deleted. Should I drive it for a week or so and see what happens? I dont want to sit on my hands if its something that needs to be fixed.
Can I hurt something if im running a weak injector and it leans out??
not so much to worry about lean its when they get hung open that bad things start to happen.
if the issue gets worse I would either pay the diag again or find an injector and put it in.
the diag will cost you $200 an injector $300 you get a new part and a few hours beer drinking.
thats what I was thinking... The tech already told me #4 had low #'s and everything else was fine.. If there is still a problem after replacing the ICP and wiring it has to be #4 unless my truck is posessed
Thanks for the help Cheezit!! I am not very excited about having to take this truck back apart but I cant wait to be back to 100%..
I may be in need of an injector or too also, and I have been looking around. Has anybody bought injectors from Pensacola Fuel Injection | Worlds #1 Diesel Rebuilder It looks like they sell rebuilt injectors, and they are quite a bit cheaper than new. Im with MistaBob2k7, I dont want any crappy cheap ones, but brand new they are a mint.
when you call have your vin# depending on build date you may have 3c3z or 4c3z injectors.
the color of the plastic has changed. they will now be white is that is what color they use now.
thanks for the heads up.. Is there any o rings or gaskets I will need when doing the install? I know its the 2nd one back on the drivers side (thanks for the printout Pete) and I had everything but the valve cover off this weekend so the actual job should be smooth sailing.
Should I need anything else when completing the job?
