Cheap front hub Bearings

Scott and I were changing the ball joints on my dually today and found a bad hub assembly . Made a few phone calls and this fellow at OReillys said he had one for $79.00 and I said yeah right I'll be right over, that should be more like $300.00.We drove over there and he admitted he was wrong, he accidentally looked up one for a F150 but he had one for my F350 with a 1 Year Warranty for $ 133.99 . I told him I would take it and asked if he had another one but he didn't have one in stock. I know its not a top quality part like a Timken, but for that kind of difference I had to try it . Just thought I let y'all know there are some cheaper ones out there.

I bought two of those cheap ones from ebay (prime choice) was the brand I think. Anyways I pulled them both less than a year later and the bearings had unleashed a massive amount of their grease out of the seals. Upon removal the needle bearings in both side pretty much crumbled into a pile. I hope you have better luck, however if they are prime choice or top choice and say made in china on the box, buyer beware.

Thats exactly what happened to his stockers. They had puked all the grease out the back.......plus several strands of steel. I hope the new ones last longer than a year.....heck, if they last two years and go out again it's still even money.

I've seen the much lower priced ones around and IMO would be hessitant on going the lower priced route on hubs but good luck, you never know, they might hold up.

Well....you know how it is when you pull something apart for one thing and find something else on the way in. Gotta grab what's available and hope it holds

Like me for example. I'm putting plain rubber o rings in my fuel drain valve right now. They decided to turn loose this morning and that's all I could find in town. Of course...... I'll do it again next weekend when the ones I ordered from Guzzle (Bob is a helluva a good guy by the way) come in....but for the right now I gotta run what I gotta run.

That said...... the axiom "you get what you pay for" almost always applies to truck parts, so we've got our collective fingers crossed that they will last a while.

I couldn't agree more Scott, get what you can get and run with it, shoot, your friend might get more miles out of it than your anticipating, you never know. Your also right about Bob, bought a few things from him and recommend him period, good dude. Question for you guys, did you hear any noise coming from the hubs or front end?? I'm assuming not because you stumbled upon the problem doing the ball joints?

I dont think they make any noises unless they are completely shot and ready to come apart. Mine went when I was in Iraq and the shop noticed they were bad and showed my wife.

A buddy with a Duraturd his went and we really didnt know untill he was doing new shocks on his truck. and his was pretty bad.

I too bought a Prime Choice brand on ebay 2 yrs ago. got 2 yrs on it and my wheel locked up and the bearing fell apart.(made in China)
for me prime choice was bad choice. I replaced it with a oem bearing assy that I loaded with bearing grease through the abs hole.

No I had no noise at all , just found it luckily. We knew the ball joints were bad and had everything for that but I wasn't really needing to spend $300.00 on top of what I all ready had spent, on tires ,spacers, ball joints and seals. So I'm hoping I will get some miles out of it . I had never seen them this cheap and just wanted to let everyone know.
