Well, I don't count on any real mileage, just want to know how to get it to pack a little more punch. I am at anywhere from 300 - 500 ft above sea level, don't know what jet size I have.
Once you get the eddie set it should run okay for you , the last one I had the throttle shafts were loose enough I took it off after just 3 years though. If thats a new holley you should just take it back where you got it and exchange it. Either get a new 670 or a maybe 570 or 600 would be a bit better match for fuel economy and power. I know a 600 is more responsive on the bottom end on my 460 and up till 4500 or so it pulled as well as any of the bigger carbs I have put on it
Regarding the flaking inside the bowls... you probably have a defective carb!!! Holley had trouble with the zinc coating on Avenger carbs awhile back. I knew a guy with the same problem and Holley replaced it with no charge.
You should check it out... might save you a bunch of money. Below are a couple of links regarding the problem.
