Tricky ignition

I just got an '85 F250 a few weeks ago. I have to repeatedly turn the ignition switch back and forth for the GP light to come on. Once the light finally comes on, it fires up with no problem. Some times it takes longer than others. Usually it works best first thing in the morning after it hasn't been driven for a while. Has anybody seen/heard of this type of problem???

The 85 glow plug system has a coolant temp sensor in the rear of the drivers side head.

If the coolant temp is over 112 degrees, the glow plugs will not turn on.

Your glow plug relay, behind the passenger side battery may be getting tired.

Dave,
Thanks again. I just replaced the glow plug relay yesterday and it works great. No more starting issues at all. Yesterday was the first time I've actually opened the hood on a vehicle, replaced something, and had the vehicle work better than before!
