I'm mixed about the police.

I trust them to do their job and to be honest about it.

I'm wary about them because in the back of my mind I keep thinking "They can ruin my life for a long time very quickly and there's not too much I can do besides not give them a chance."

Here's the thing..........sure...we all hate getting a parking or speeding ticket.......but if you got the ticket you were technically breaking the law.....and they didn't write that law......and if they saw you do it and they didn't enforce the law they'd be breaking the law..........so really.....give em a break and stop busting their chops.....you only don't like em cause they caught you doing something you knew you shouldn't have been doing anyhow....

I think I'm a pretty alright guy, I mean, I can be an *** when need be, but usually...I'm pretty even tempered. I gate...thinking...thinking...2 maybe 3 tickets last year? I don't remember. 1 was because a lady nearly ran me over flying through a flare line at an MVA. I was told something when I was in FTO that has stuck with me,and that I tell to everyone who says all cops are dicks.....some are...and chances are...we don't "like" them either. But you gotta be careful, just because I don't like a guy doesn't mean he won't be saving my tail in a hail of bullets.

On physical fitness...more departments are becoming more physically fit because of the war. People get out of the military, don't know what to do, find out they get credit on tests because they served. More departments are training more on the lines of military style based on tactical responses and such, or the bigger departments are at least. I love it. I love the tactical outlook on everything, it gives us more freedom to go hands on when needed. Most of you probably don't have a good encounter because you're getting pulled over or whatever, and that's fine. Some guys live to write tickets, others chase real criminals.

I have a runin with the local State troopers about once a year because somehow someone calls 911 from our house and hangs up ... not quite sure how that happens but ...

I live in a small town and I'm just waiting for them to kill someone. The barracks is in town and it's just a skinny street (state road). They get a call and go like h3ll through town - seriously, if you can wind out 3rd gear on a CV you're going TOO fast.

Other than that, the typical waiting on the 4 lanes trying to pick up someone going a bit over the speed limit.

You can't wind out 3rd in a CV until over 110. That is way to fast.

Around here, It takes county cops 3 hours to respond to anything, EVERYTHING is a civil matter so there is nothing they can do....and IF they did there friggin job things would'nt be so bad here. But because I live next to government housing where lashanqiua and her 24 kids with different "baby-daddies" live on welfare, foodstamps and wic with factory new cadillacs, boats, and jewlery cops just don't care. 3 houses on my block were forced into and they got away. Let them try mine. a .45 and 12 gauge will say Hello. I'm so glad the law in Texas is if someone forced entry to your home and you feel you and your families life is threatend to open fire. And IIRC I had one cop tell me to shoot to kill. Not wing them because by law even though they were attempting to steal, If I shot and only winged them they can sue me over injuries. But I hope that never happends.

There should really be another option on that poll,
They don't care.

BOOOOOOOOOOOO

I voted, they hate us, it's part of human nature to hate those you rule and have power over and cops are no different, all it takes is time.

They're only people, you can't please everyone. Some of the nicest people I've met have been police officers. Some of the nastiest people I've met have been police officers. That being said, I know some doctors that are complete tools, as well as some very competent ones. I know some truck drivers that I'd like to hand them their *** in a sling, and some I'd like to buy a coffee...

Bottom line, they're just people doing a job. Treat them as equal human beings, and most of them aren't that bad!

The biggest problem with law enforcement is they cover for each other so even if one is a nice, kind, fair person if one of the other ones does something they will cover it up. their are good and bad ones but they are all corrupt to some point because they believe they are better than other people and above the law.

One cop pulls over another cop for DUI you think drunk cop going to jail NOPE
One cop beats on his wife you think he is going to jail NOPE
One cop comes to work drunk you think anything happens NOPE
One cop has bad break up with ex and starts to stalk her think anything happens NOPE

In Connecticut we have had towns firing and prosecuting officers over DUIs. And that was of course after the drunk officers tried to flash badges and get away with it.
What is messed up is that two officers were racing each other back to the station and one hit a 16 year old girls car and killed her. The girl had a little alcohol in her system but the cop car was doing 85+ in a 45 no lights no emergency and will probably not suffer any consequences.
