Front side marker lights

Do's anybody make a clear set of side marker lights for the 80-86 trucks that go into the fenders?

They do make clear, but they are not DOT legal unless they reflect a amber light from a white light source.

I've been wondering if these reflectors are even needed? I'd love to remove them and smooth out the fender like they never existed.

What I really want to do is get rid of these side marker lights. I have already studied how to do this but I can't find what I need. What I need is to JUNK 92-96 fenders & I can cut out the front & graft this part in. Do's anybody have a JUNK set of these they can do this for me?

They are required by law, and they have to be DOT legal (Department of Transportation) on street legal vehicles. This is a requirement in all 50 states. There are states that don't enforce these laws, but some enforce them with a vengence. California is one that loves to pull you over for this.

Since 1968, all motor vehicles are required to have side and rear reflectors, two amber in the front, and two red side reflectors, and two tail reflectors, red in color in the rear.

Since 1970, all motor vehicles are required to have two lighted amber front side markers one on each side, and two lighted red side markers in the rear. They must light up with the vehicles headlamps. Most manufactures incorporate both the side reflector, and the lighted side marker as one unit. But they can be seperate. And indeed they are seperate on the 1970-1972 Ford Pickup. Amber hood side Reflector, with the combination turn signal and side marker light in the grille.

The front side reflector, and side marker lamps are combined on the 1980-1986. The Rear Side reflectors, and the rear tail reflectors are incorporated in the taillamps on the 1980-1986.

The Front side reflector must reflect a amber light, from a seperate white light source. and the rear side reflector must reflect a red light from a seperate white light source, visible from at least 250 feet.

Most clear lenses I see for sale will reflect white light back from a white light source from another vehicle, so therfore they are illegal, even with amber bulbs.

It would be simpler to swap front clips with the 1992-1996.

The front clips are swappable with very little modification, and is mostly a bolt on swap. You would have to modify the bumper mounts for brackets.

Front clip consists of the hood, both front fenders, the radiator support, and the grille, headlamps, markers etc...
