c-4,nowc-6 hard shift

my 85 f-150 had a rough shift from 3-4th with the c-4 . its gone now and the c-6 does the same . i have to let off the gas pedal for it to shift. any ideas?

Do you have the vacuum hooked up to the modulator?

What he says. And you need the vacuum supply from the engine manifold.
