yes another shifting thread :)
I hate to beat a horse when it is down but...
I had my 2009 crew cab Fx4 reprogrammed as well and it seems to be shifting somewhat better. One thing I have really noticed though is that it still really shifts hard from what seems like 2nd to 3rd or when accelerating and then letting off the throttle to coast. It doesn't feel good at all though when that rough shift does happen.
The weird part is that the hard shifts almost disappear entirely when the transmission warms up and the gauge reads warm. I think the fluid in the transmission expands when it warms up and lubes better. I have changed transmission fluid in vehicles before and I know they can do funny things when the fluid levels are not quite right. I am however no tranny expert. I once had a 2003 jetta TDI with no tranny dip stick. You had to add a predetermined amount of fluid, get the transmission to the correct temperature by idling (with computer assistance to read the sensor temp) and then check to see if any fluid escaped from a port at that temp. If some escaped at the correct temperature then you had just a little to much fluid. If none escaped then there was too little. When it barely dripped it was perfect. Trick was getting the temperature sweet spot to know the right fluid amount of fluid in the tranny. But as soon as you drove it you knew if the amounts were correct or it would shift weird.
I wonder if adding just a little bit of tranny fluid might tame these trannys a little because mine acts so much better when she warms up. Someone with more knowledge than me chime in.
