I finally got around to installing a system like this and no more problems! I have it on a hard switch, so once she's up and running, I just turn the pump off. It is such a relief to have this worry taken care of. Thanks for the help, Marianna.

Any electric fuel pump should be run through a relay and have an inertia shut off switch. If you are in an accident it will continue to push fuel unless you shut it down.

The relay is because of the amp draw of the electric pump. It will fry a switch if hard wired ( don't ask how I know lol).

Should work. The pressure is about right. But I can't stress it enough to use a relay and inertia switch! I never used to worry about either but last yr I almost burned my truck up with just a switch. Also a buddy rolled his buggy, The engine quit but the pump kept running. It was almost a deadly disater.

At the bottom of Post#8 that's the one I recommend.

That's funny. That pump was developed for the OE on the 5.7 Oldsmobile Diesel jokes. They were adapted to gasoline use by adding a teflon ring on the plunger. Some parts men speak with forked tongue.

careful.i did that for a day,and was told this was bad.very bad(luckily,i knew better to search and ask before i actually started using my truck like that.)it needs to go on a relay, thats to much draw on that line.with the relay, you just use the fss to trigger a hot directly from the battery to the pump, which is also on a fuse.
and ditch that fuel filter for a barbed fitting.not if,but when that little sucker gets plugged,it will burn the pump up in no time im sure.
the black mr.gasket is not rated for diesel fuel either, only the green model #12D is.

Yes that is bad. It should be wired thru a relay. The relay will handle the heavier amp draw of the pump and you use the right ga. wire. Puting that much juice thru a regular switch or wireing will fry it.

probably lol.
according to Dave,no matter where you get power,it should be be used to open a relay only, and draw from a line directly pulled from the battery, with a fuse just after the terminal.
perhaps the cruise line is only used for that, and since its not being used anymore it might be ok....i just don't know.
after it was explained to me how to do it,and i see how it works, there's simply nothing better than that setup.- for a fool proof, turn key and go install.

and actually,im not sure if thats a good line to use for your trigger either.doesn't cruise only work at a certain speed, and go off with your brakes? i guess the line where you tapped into it,may be juiced all the time......man,i dunno if i would have picked that line to use for a pump.any rate, you'll probably burn up your cruise switch if you dont put it on a relay, and draw directly from the battery.
you best bet is to just follow how i did it,and then you'll never have to mess with it.just turn the key forward, and it starts pumping/no need for a devoted switch.
