Hey guys, ive been off the forum for a few years now because I sold my ford and now i own one again! its a 1979 Ford F100 390 4spd, my first dentside! anyways, im not getting any lights, so first thing i did was replace the switch, worked great for about 2 minutes, then I lost all lights again, the only light i can seem to get is the right head light? I am stumped. =\
its all lights the only thing i have is head lights. there is also a popping sound from the dash? and where are the grounds on these trucks? Im new to fords
Make sure your headlight switch is plugged in right. That happened to me when i replaced mine. It popped and started smoking. I took the plug off, turned it around and plugged it back in. Works fine now. I also had to rewire everything because of corroded wires and bad grounds. Also check ur plug ins that should be mounted on the drivers fender.
hmm ill have to try that and what thing on the drivers fender? :S im thinking its a bad ground somewhere. the horn has been replaced and works off a seperate button now. and from a wiring diagram i have the horn button is supposed to go to the starter solenoid? i might be wrong again not sure if that helps at all

There is a bundle of wires coming out of your firewall. If i remember right there is 3 plugs. They are only about a 1 1/2 sqaure or so. One side of the each plug goes into thecab and the other ends branch off to your lights. Pull them apart , clean them out and put some dielectric grease in them. Also take a test light to each light and see if you are getting power. When i got my truck EVERY light bulb in it was black. I had alot of work to do on mine just to get lights.
i fixed it, It was the horn relay, it was grounding out so capping it off fixed it! thanks for the help tho. I have always wanted one of these old for dentsides. and now finally have one so ill be asking a lot of questions and searching old threads
