ok I jsut installed a new, reman, 4.9L 300 in my 82. Im having trouble getting the thing to idle down....sounds to be running at to highg an RPM just sitting there and also its dieseling when I try nad shut it off it just keeps trying to run. heck this last time I had to pull the man. choke out and flood it out to stop it. hwepl please.
no now that I think about it I'm going to get a propane torch and find the vac leak. my bet is the stupid intake exhaust manifold is screwed up had a bugger of a time hoking it nad the exhaust up. I'm betting thats me problem.
vaccum leak on a carb'ed engine will make a low idle, unless it was running rich before the leak, I'd check the fast idle or just try to adjust the idle speed down.
how do I go about checking that? and then fixing that.
also:
as for the idle right now I think I have the timning really advanced. I have the Dissy turned so far teh vac advance is touching the tappit cover. Just so you dont think I think that is right it just lines up the timing mark there. If I could I would trun it farther. to line it up better at 6*btdc so I know something is WRONG WRONG WRONG.
Also this truck has EFI manifolds. AN Offy C necked down to a 2100 wiht 1.14 ventuies and the EGR system totally deleted.

I have the idle screw backed out almost the whole way. How do I adjust the fast idle on a 2100 autolite wiht a manual tans and manual choke? I thought I only had curb idle adjustments
