hindsight 20/20
Second, they carry some high amperages. It's best not to chance pulling the wires that carry those amperages through the firewall and possibly having a chaffed wire do some welding on your truck without permission.
Third, they will be difficult to access up under the dash - there's already a bunch of stuff up ther trying to bump into one another.
You can clean up the look quite a bit by mounting the units and making sure your wires are neat and bundled with nylon ties or plastic conduit, not electrical tape. Run all your wires along a single path and mount the boxes along that path. I took all of mine out of the cab through the grommet on the firewall on both the left and right sides then ran the bundles down to the frame to have them branch out. So I only have two wire bunches - very clean.

If you have a regulator then you should (?) have a generator, if you want to put stuff under the dash to clean up the ugliest fire wall in the world (generically speaking) and who wouldn’t, then you are starting down the road to the scary dark side, take a small jump down it and install a single wire alternator (that actually charges at a idle, strange concept) with a built in regulator and make your firewall NAKED .............as it should be.
