new stero unit

I am looking to put a new radio in my truck I would like to tie into the old wiring how do I get the old one out so I can remove the trim around the gauges and vent etc. I pulled off the tune and vol **** how do I get the fade and balance w/o breaking them you guys have any tricks. Also what do you think about cutting the space out for a new one if its not clobbered back together.

Personally I don't recommend cutting your dash at all. When I got an aftermarket head unit, I mounted it under my dash. I've seen many people cut the dash, some look good, some don't

Just undo all the screws around the dash trim and remove the nuts from the base of the orginal radio's *****.

I wouldn't cut up a dash that would hard to replace if you changed your mind anyway. I bought a new am/fm cassette deck with a MP3 player plug. It mounts nicely into the existing holes and you can plug a MP3 into it and have as many songs as you like. It also looks more factory. I bought mine for $20.00 online.

Instrument Cluster Bezel is pretty easy to come by. I have a coulpe extra myself. I like the cd players to be put in the original spot, just my opinion. You can make a trim piece to go around the cut edges to make it look cleaner.
