So I recently installed a air horn system on my 2002 f250 super duty 6.8l v-10. I just bought the truck 2 weeks ago and noticed there were 2 previous air horn systems installed but not working. While doing the wiring on the air horn system i notice 2 relays that had been wired behind the fuse pannel but did'nt want to mess with anything if it was working. After everything was all done and tested everything worked fine. 2 days later i hear a clicking noise coming from the fuse pannel. It only clicks when i get in my truck and start my truck and when i turn off my truck it will click about 8-12 times then go away. I herd alot about the relays clicking but the truck wont start but mine starts fine and everything works fine just the damn clicking noise. Anybody got anything....Thanks
I would suspect the clicking noise is the relays that were used for the previous air system. About the only way to tell for sure is to find a helper to turn the key on while you put a finger on each relay and feel it "clicking".
I don't envy you. I hate working under dash boards.
After you have identified the relay in question go to this website and you can download your owners manual which will identify the relay by it's function.
If it is the old air horn relays do I need to replace the relays or disconnect them completely? I didn't want to disconnect them because I cant trace all the wires that had been cut to use the old air horn relays
