Tailgate rusty inside
How can you solve a tailgate that is in great shape on the outside but looking very rusty inside.
I can see the rust buildup inside the handle latch assembly and a few surface rust spots forming in the crease on the bed side of the gate.
I thought about trying some gas tank Cream. Any suggestions?

I dont know that you will find that magic pill that you are looking for. How bad is it?
You could strip it and have it chemical dipped. You could try one of those products that claim to convert the rust into ?? (NOT RUST) by brushing it in. You could replace the tail gate entirely.
Can you get a media blaster into the area?
