ok i have a 95 f150 with a 5.8 and the radiator core supprt is pretty much gone along the bottom and my question is are the core supports universal from the f150-f350s of this era? an inventory search of my local wrecking yards website yeilded 12 results ranging from broncos to f250s with any engine from a 4.9 up to 460s ( no diesels though). i would think that the 460 would have a much bigger radiator and thus need a different support but i guess im wrong?
since i just posted question on how to remove bumper prior to making the same rad support replacement, i have done some research. for my 87 F250, looks like 87-91 all have same design. what i did was check LMC Truck parts web site, see what years use the same part for rad support.
i didnt have as much luck at junkyard. everything i found that would have fit my truck , was just as rusted as what i need to replace. will need to buy one new, either LMC or maybe Rock Auto
i recently rebuilt the entire front end of my truck after a wreck. i got most of the parts from a junk yard. even the best looking cores all have some rust by the battery.
if i could do it all over again, i would have bought all of the parts new from lmc, and i really would have not spent that much more. even the best looking parts had little dents and imperfections and the little extra money i would have spent would have more than made up for having parts that looked good.
