Hi everyone and thanks for all those who can help out. I have a 1986 F250 with the 7.5 460 engine and dual tanks. If the tank selector switch is in the rear position my fuel gauge reads accurate and the truck runs fine. If I place the selector switch in the front position the fuel gauge reads –below empty-, even though it is full, and the truck stalls after a bit because of gas starvation. If I return the switch to the read tank it runs fine again. I have the fuel selector value that is electrical. A few questions.
1. A gentleman had told me in another avenue that the fuel selector valve was the problem. I cannot not find the part number for this. Does anyone have it?
2. From what I have been able to gather, switching the polarity on pins 1 and 2 is what switches the value. Can I hook a meter up to pins 1 & 2 and check the polarity and switch the selector switch to see if the polarity changes to see if the rest of the system is working OK?
3. From diagrams there appears to be a tank selector relay somewhere. Could this be causing the problem? If so, do you know where this is and what the part number is?
